Death to PowerPoint? How should we do presentations?

In spite of plenty of complaints, Microsoft PowerPoint is ubiquitous in the business world and classrooms around the globe. You can read one more gripe and some suggested alternatives see “Death to PowerPoint!” (Bloomberg Businessweek, August 30, 2012).
As a text book author and college teacher I ask: What should we use instead? What presentation “support” was used in some of the best presentations you have seen?
